Did you watch the fireworks? For me it is all about EGRESS!

I noticed iTunes no longer has a listing for the top podcasts in different categories.
Also, they censored show #27: STOX SUX. So I changed the name to STOX STINX

The first FUNNY MONEY segment is introduced. Call me at 206-734-4736 with your earliest money memory and tell me a story about one of the first things you remember about money. You can plug your podcast if you want!

Our Guru this time sat at the library studying leading investment guides and wondered why none of them considered risk as well as return.

Books I’m reading:
Index Funds: The 12-Step Program for Active Investors by Mark T. Hebner
John Bogle on Investing
Peter Bernstein: The Remarkable Story of Risk and also his Capidal Ideas
Freakonomics by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner
Where Are The Customers’ Yachts? by Fred Schwed
and Winning the Loser’s Game by Charles Ellis

I’ve got way too much stuff!
Do you have too many stocks and/or mutual funds?

A thought experiment.

Our Tool in the Crib lets you create your own market.

I’ve watched more soccer in the past 3 weeks than in the past sum total of my life. But, why don’t they make the goal 2 feet wider and 2 feet taller?

Mad Money Review: Jim Cramer said to get out of the speculative stocks. That was quick! And by the way, what beach was it anyway?

He who refuses to embrace a unique opportunity loses the PRIZE as surely as if he had failed.

  14. engriam July 7 2006 @ 9:40 pm

  15. bubbaman July 8 2006 @ 6:06 am

I’m one of the percentage of listeners that never call or write the show but listen faithfully. The % of the %. Oh now I can never say that again. That was a great stuttering Boo-yah! Paul.
    The prize goes to……

I got into index funds many years ago when they first came out, but lost interest in them since back then there were not many different indexes to follow other than the total market, russell 2000, etc. Thanks for elightening me to the new products that are out there.

    PRIZE

    PRIZE

  18. CramerNOT July 8 2006 @ 11:52 pm

I need to win the PRIZE so I can be one of dem dere wealthy ones. I took the risk capacity survey at ifa.com and was mashed up with the 90 portfolio. I am going to find mutual funds and ETFs that most closely approximates this portfolio in the recommended percentages so that I do not have to pay DFA the 1% commission they charge to allow me to buy their index funds. I would say that this is analogous to Paul making his famous Lipton Tea by the gallon on the cheap. Of course, I expect DFA, if not Paul, who is benefitting from DFA to say that it would be worth it to pay DFA the 1%, and yes, I have the minimum $100,000 to be a customer of DFAs.

I really really like the IFA website and have already printed out the PRIZE BOOK chapter by chapter at the website. I must say, I agree with just about everything IFA has documented and am looking forward to getting my portfolio set up soon. Then I can go body surfing and catch up on my reading as I am VERY tired of doing all of this homework involved with buing stocks over these past several years.

Here’s to the BEST Business Podcast in the WORLD….!

Paul- The Enlightening Round parody was brilliant. You deserve a prize for that one!

  21. Pug July 11 2006 @ 9:35 am

    Prize.

The lightening round spoof on playing roulette was outstanding. Your podcast should be required listening for all individual investors.

Thanks for providing this Mad Money Machine Goodness. I’ll nominate this podcast every day that I can !

  22. mojojojo103 July 11 2006 @ 12:28 pm

I think the number of people posting comments is increasing because there is a prize.

Those comments you talked about from the guy who ran a radio show must be true–it’s working.

I liked the books you mentioned on the latest podcast–I think I have read about half of them. Good picks.

I have a book to recommend I read last year–The Lazy Person’s Guide to Investing; by Paul B. Farrell. Good book on index investing. If you don’t have much time to do your homework and pick stocks then this book has some good ideas on ways to set it and forget it.

    Keep up the good work.

  23. jsmith July 11 2006 @ 2:22 pm

Paul, please keep up the great work. I really look forward to your podcast each week.

And please send the prize to me!!

  24. Dannychico July 12 2006 @ 2:15 pm

Great show! Thanks for helping us keep our eyes on the prize.

  25. Chimney1 July 12 2006 @ 9:10 pm

Finding your show in a sea of useless podcast has been a real prize. Best of luck in your award pursuits.

  26. heidi59 July 12 2006 @ 9:13 pm

    Hi Paul,
I hope I win your Prize of the IFA book, and I voted for your podcast as the best one, because it is fantastic! I look forward to hearing it every Saturday as I walk to work with my iPod, it gives the start of my workweek a boost! Keep up the interesting gurus and tools of the crib.

    Heidi
